Putting People First

The fair trade movement supports greater trade equity with marginalized producers – farmers, artisans and other workers – in developing countries. Fair trade includes fair payment for goods as well as better living and working conditions for workers and their communities. The Fair Trade Federation promotes North American fair-trade wholesalers, retailers and producers whose practices support fair wages and employment opportunities for low-income producers worldwide. Establishing supportive relationships with artisans and trade groups around the world helps to bring about improvements in health care, education, food, jobs and housing.
